This is the first of two posts for the Spellbinders It’s My Party Collection. The second post can be found here.

This post which includes a video shows how I use the newly released products by Spellbinders that were designed by Clarissa Wiley. They are the Floating Balloons 3D Embossing Folder and Glimmering Hooray, Glimmering All About You, and Glimmering Poppin’ Birthday.

I show four embossing folder techniques as well as hot foiling tips. For more hot foiling tips, watch this video.

Also I make cards that not the usual size and use the We R Makers Envelope Punch Board to create custom sized envelopes. To see how I use envelope punch board, watch these videos: video 1 and video 2.

Check out video below.

Card #1

Technique #1:

  1. Apply Distress Oxide Ink Candied Apple, Wild Honey, Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers, and Salty Ocean randomly on Strathmore Mixed Media Paper.

  2. Spritz water lightly on both surfaces of paper. Note: This will soften the fibres in the paper and prevent any cracking when embossed/debossed. Leave card panel in embossing folder to dry to it dries without warping.

  3. Insert inked panel into Floating Balloons 3D Embossing Folder (inked side facing the raised side of the embossing folder) and put through embossing machine. Note: Follow manufacturer’s instructions of ‘sandwich’ for 3D embossing folder. This should result in a debossed image of the inked panel.

  4. Apply Distress Oxide Ink Ground Espresso with a light hand on the flat areas of the debossed panel. Note: It will take a little patience to build up the colour when applying the ink with a light hand.

Spellbinders Glimmering All About You

Card #2

Technique #2:

  1. Apply Distress Oxide Ink Candied Apple, Wild Honey, Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers, and Salty Ocean in that order across a sheet of Strathmore Mixed Media Paper and ink blend between the colours.

  2. Spritz water lightly on both surfaces of paper. Note: This will soften the fibres in the paper and prevent any cracking when embossed/debossed. Leave card panel in embossing folder to dry to it dries without warping.

  3. Insert inked panel into Floating Balloons 3D Embossing Folder (inked side facing the concave side of the embossing folder) and put through embossing machine. Note: Follow manufacturer’s instructions of ‘sandwich’ for 3D embossing folder. This should result in an embossed image of the inked panel.

  4. Tap Versafine Clair Medieval Blue ink to inside of the Floating Balloons 3D Embossing Folder, on the flat surface.

  5. Align the embossed card panel on raised side on the Floating Balloons 3D Embossing Folder, close embossing folder carefully and pass through embossing machine.

  6. Repeat steps #4 and #5 to achieve a darker colour as this inks the background of the embossed image, making the colours of the balloons pop.

  7. Lightly sprinkle gold embossing powder over the inked and embossed card panel (use your fingers, thumb and pointer, so yu can control the amount sprinkled), then melt embossing powder with a heat gun.

Note: Versafine Majestic Blue ink pad is no longer available. So I suggest Versafine Clair Medieval Blue ink pad.
