This post which includes a video shows I use the Altenew Dazzling Dahlia bundle of stamp, layering stencils, and coordinating dies to create cards shown below. I created the tri-fold card with the belly band for the Altenew Retreat on 1st April, 2023 and that is why I have such detailed instructions for it as shown below.

Do check out the video below.

Card #1

1.       For the flowers & leaves: Place the first Dazzling Dahlia Simple Coloring stencil in MISTI Stamping Platform. Then arrange the stamps that fit into the stencil from Dazzling Dahlia stamp set. ‘Pick up’ stamps with MISTI door.

2.       Ready four pieces of 80lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock measuring 5.5” by 8.5” – two pieces for stamping, stencilling & die cutting; and another two pieces for die cutting and to be used in step #10.

3.        Place a 80lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock (measuring 5.5” by 8.5”) in MISTI Stamping Platform and treat with anti-static powder. Tap Obsidian Pigment Ink onto the stamps on MISTI door and swing MISTI door close to stamp images on 80lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock

4.       Sprinkle Crystal Clear Embossing Powder on the stamped images and melt embossing powder with a heat tool.

5.       Repeat steps #2 and #3, so there will be double the number of flowers and leaves.

6.       Leave stamped card in MISTI or use Mini Make Art 7-inch Stay-tion. Place the Dazzling Dahlia Simple Coloring stencil, #1, #2, and #3 in turn and secure with magnet. Then start applying crisp dye inks with Small Blending Tool and Mini Blending Tool. Use the Mini Blending Tool to add shadows, which is the darker shade inks.

7.       Colours used are: (1) Leaves – Bamboo, Olive, Moss, Aqualicious; (2) Teal Flower – Sea Shore Crisp Dye Ink Set; (3) Orange Flower – Golden Sunset Crisp Dye Ink Set; (4) Red Flower – Red Sunset Crisp Dye Ink Set; (5) Butterfly – Deep Iris, Turquoise; (6) Bird - Deep Iris, Turquoise.

8.       Use the coordinating die & Satin Masking Tape and die cut the stamped and coloured images with a Die Cutting Machine. Die cut additional shapes with 80lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock to place on back of the acetate.

9.       Left flap of tri-fold card: Ready a piece of acetate measuring 4.25” by 5.5”. Place a curved die (I used the curved die from Waffle Flower Cutline Die Set) on right of the acetate and run through Die Cutting Machine. On the left of the acetate, use Crafter's Essential Scoring Board and score at ½” and fold over.

10.       Arrange flowers on acetate and adhere with Ultra-Sticky Double-Sided Tape and Instant Dimension Foam Tape. Then on the back of the acetate, adhere the plain white die cuts (as mentioned in step #2) to cover the adhesive.

11.       Right flap of tri-fold card: Ready a piece of 80lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock measuring 4.75” by 5.5”. On the right of the card, use Crafter's Essential Scoring Board and score at ½” and fold over. Then take another piece of 80lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock measuring 4.25” by 5.5” and cut the 5.5” side into 11 pieces, measuring ½” each using Tim Holtz Guillotine.

12.       Then using a Small Blending Tool apply inks to the ½” paper strips as follows: 3 paper strips, Volcano Lake, with Lagoon at one edge; 3 paper strips, Rouge, with Crimson at the edge; 3 paper strips, Chamomile, with Snapdragon at the edge; and 2 paper strips, Parrot with Olive at the edge.

13.       Adhere Double-sided Adhesive Sheet to the 4.75” by 5.5” 80lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock which has been scored on the right. Then adhere the paper strips that have been inked to the exposed adhesive. Cut off overhanging of paper strips, if any, and the right flap is ready.

14.       Assembly of tri-fold card: Ready a 110lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock measuring 5.5” by 4.25”, the middle card panel. Adhere Red Line Tape (using this tape as it is sturdy) to the left flap of the acetate and right flap of the panel with paper strips. Adhere each flap, one at a time to the middle card panel. The basics of the tri-fold card in now done.

15.       The back of the middle card panel will show the right and left flaps. To cover this, adhere another 110lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock card panel measuring 4.25” by 5.5” to the back of the middle card panel.

16.       For the sentiment: Stamp ‘love and hugs’ from Dazzling Dahlia Stamp set onto black card stock with clear embossing ink (after treating black card stock with anti-static powder). Sprinkle Pure White Embossing Powder on stamped sentiment and melt embossing powder with a heat tool.

17.       Die cut sentiment with a circle die. Die cut another couple of circles with the black card stock. Adhere the black circle die cuts to the back of the circular sentiment with liquid glue for sturdiness and dimension.

18.       Adhere the circle sentiment to bottom of card front on the acetate flap.

19.       For the belly band: Ready a 110lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock measuring 1” by 11”. Using a Mini Blending Tool apply Rouge and Crimson ink to the card strip. Then use the Crafter's Essential Scoring Board and first score (using score tool in drawer of said scoring board) strip at 3 ¼” and 3 3/8”; flip card strip and score at 3 1/8” and 3 ¼”. Fold over at scored lines and wrap around assembled card – it should fit.

20.       Stamp ‘sending you a smile’ from Dazzling Dahlia Stamp set with clear Obsidian Pigment Ink (after treating card strip with anti-static powder). Sprinkle Crystal Clear Embossing Powder on stamped sentiment and melt embossing powder with a heat tool.

21.       Using Ultra-Sticky Double-Sided Tape secure belly band around card. The add die cut bird to belly band.

22.       Finishing touches (optional): (1) Apply Spectrum Noir Crystal Clear to parts of the butterfly and bird die cuts for a shine; and (2) Adhere some Satin White Sequins on card from with liquid glue and a gem picker tool.
