Kendra’s Card Challenge 7 - use six patterned papers to make 15 cards (July 2022)

This post which includes a video shows how I make 15 A2 cards(!) for Kendra’s Card Challenge 6 which runs for a quarter from 1st July to 30th September 2022. It is a really cool challenge which requires you to pick six 6” by 6” patterned paper and make 15 cards following the 15 card sketches that Kendra provides. The sketches include measurements to cut your patterned paper, which is amazing. All measurements are for A2 cards which measure 4.25” by 5.5”.

When I came across this challenge I was looking for ways to use up my vast collection of patterned paper that I had accumulated…..over a decade and a half. Retiform Technique

This post shows my take of the retiform technique, also known as the grid technique. This technique uses marks to build up an ordered grid to frame yout stamped images. It works best if the stamped image overhangs the gris and this helps give the composition some depth. While it’s stated that stamp images with more solid coverage is better, I have used both, i.e. stamps with a more solid coverage and with less coverage.

Stencilling Flowers with Altenew Flower Stencils

This post which includes a video shows how I create three cards with Altenew stencils. I use the Bitterroot Flower Layering Stencil to create one card and the Fower Garden stencil to create two cards with one stencilled panel. The Flower Garden stencil is not a layering stencil but I apply multiple colours to create depth to the flowers and images - smaller blending brushes required to achieve this effect.
